Tulipiere 16

New Commission

Museums Sheffield 2018

I received a commission from Museums Sheffield for Tulipiere 16, the first large scale piece of work that incorporates the newly developed Mikana metal material (see research page) in combination with 925 silver. The piece was hallmarked at Sheffield Assay Office. Mikana continues Sheffield’s long tradition of combining technology and industry with contemporary design and making.

Museums Sheffield is custodian of a collection of metalwork, awarded Designated Status in 1999 in recognition of its outstanding national and historical significance.

The work was presented to Museums Sheffield by the Contemporary Art Society, London.

Narratives in Making

National Craft Gallery, Kilkenny, Ireland, 12 May 2017 – 5 July 2017

I will be showing new work in the Narratives in Making exhibition at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.

"Narratives in Making, curated by Gregory Parsons, considers the provenance of the objects, who made it, where it was made, how it was made and what it is made of. All this is inextricably linked. It informs our relationship with the object. There are fascinating stories here, from the love of material, rituals of making, the design process, the physical rhythm and time involved."

Narratives in Making will tour to Ruthin Craft Centre, Wales from 22 July – 24 Sept 2017.
