Surface Matters

The Coach House, Dublin Castle, Ireland

22 February - 19 May 2019

"An exhibition of new and innovative works from the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s PORTFOLIO: Critical Selection 2019-20. The designer makers represented were selected by an international panel, for demonstrating excellence in craftsmanship, design quality and technical skill.

Surface Matters, curated by Liz Cooper, considers the extraordinary skill and attention to detail involved in the creation of these contemporary craft objects; from the application of an exquisite patina to the repetition of building a complex form and a deep understanding of how their materials perform which has set these makers apart."

The exhibition will tour to Artesania Catalunya – CCAM in Barcelona in June/July 2019.

New Commission

Museums Sheffield 2018

I received a commission from Museums Sheffield for Tulipiere 16, the first large scale piece of work that incorporates the newly developed Mikana metal material (see research page) in combination with 925 silver. The piece was hallmarked at Sheffield Assay Office. Mikana continues Sheffield’s long tradition of combining technology and industry with contemporary design and making.

Museums Sheffield is custodian of a collection of metalwork, awarded Designated Status in 1999 in recognition of its outstanding national and historical significance.

The work was presented to Museums Sheffield by the Contemporary Art Society, London.

TRESOR contemporary craft

Messe Basel, Switzerland, 21 - 24 September 2017

I will be exhibiting with TASTE Contemporary Craft and in the "Alchemy" curated space at Tresor 2017.

"We are designing and developing a new, unique fair for high-quality applied arts: TRESOR contemporary craft with international exhibitors starts in September 2017 in Basel, a city renowned for its fairs.

We identify trends and innovations in 21st century craft using materials such as wood, fibre, glass, ceramics, metal, and new materials pushing the boundaries between art, craft, design and architecture. We seek out craft movements that are reviving or reinventing traditional techniques and design processes with the help of new technologies. We show the collectibles of the future."
